Commodore's Ball

Join us for one of the most elegant evenings of the Squadron social calendar—the Commodore’s Ball, taking place Saturday, January 31st, 2026 at Saraguay House. Plans are well underway to create a truly memorable night of music, fine dining, and dancing beneath the winter stars.

The evening will begin with a sparkling Fizz Reception, accompanied by a captivating dance exhibition led by Brenton Mitchell, of the Arthur Murray Dance Academy, and his partner.

Following the reception, guests will enjoy a beautifully prepared dinner, after which the dance floor will open at 9:00 pm, with live music provided by Mike Cowie and the G Street Band, featuring Liz Rigney. This six-piece ensemble promises an unforgettable night of rhythm and elegance.

To ensure everyone feels confident and ready for the dance floor, complimentary dance lessons will be offered at Saraguay House on January 14, 21, and 28, from 7:00–8:00 pm, taught by Brenton Mitchell.

Tickets for members:

Early bird: $150 if purchased by December 31st

Regular: $175 if purchased in January

Ticket price includes three dance lessons, Fizz Reception, dinner, and an evening of exceptional entertainment.

The Northwest Passage

Join Syd Dumaresq as he traces “one warm line through a land so wild and savage”, telling the story of the Northwest Passage. Syd will present the history of the discovery of this fabled Passage including what was known in 1845 when Sir John Frankiln set sail, what was not known, the many failed rescue missions and the first two successful passages: one by the Norwegian Roald Amundsen, and two back-to-back passages by the Canadian RCMP officer Henry Larsen on the St Roch.

Parade of Lights:
Join us in the mooring field by the breakwater at 7 PM on VHF Channel 68 to kick off the Parade of Lights up the Northwest Arm. If you’re not on a boat, feel free to watch from the patio under the tent or on the lawn at the Club.


Parade Route:
The parade will begin at the entrance to the Arm, cruise down the eastern side, turn at the Armdale Yacht Club, and return along the western side back to the Club.


Stay Tuned:
For updates during the evening, tune into VHF Channel 68.


Post-Parade Party:
The celebration will continue under the tent at the Squadron, with live music from
The Mellotones, starting at 9PM. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a fantastic evening—bring your friends and family for a night to remember!
